Demistifying Learning Languages
A common misconception about learning a language, is the need for talent. Research has repeatedly shown, that the greatest factor in succesful learning is motivation.
Intertwined with motivation is regular and authentic practise, along with grit and perseverance.
Motivation With Goal Orientation
A great help to stay motivated, besides having a study-budy to hold each other accountable, is to have a goal, a reason why one studies a language.
Here are a few reasons to guide you on find your own.
- Help you child learn the same language.
- Visiting a country the language is the local language.
- Improve job and/or career prospects.
- Watch movies, shows, or content in their original language.
- Grow your unerstanding of a culture and its history.
- Improve your understanding of something you are studying.
- Friends speak the language.

There are a few ways to support your motivation.
Learning Materials
Find materials that are relevant to you and your interests.
With the web, it has become much easier to find resources, often for free, that match your unique interests.
Hack Your Mind
The best was to guarantee failure, is to hack your brain. For example, many fail because they keep telling themselves, "I'm hopeless with languages."
One can use the same tool to ones benefit. For example, everytime you remember a word, tell yourself how amazing your are, and how easy learnin a language is, and how it seems to get easier if you study dillegently.
The technical term for this is autosuggestion, use it to your advantage.
